Pressotherapy is a method of hardware physiotherapy, which is a mechanical effect on the underlying tissues with metered compressed air with cyclic contraction of the venous wall and an ascending gradient of the venous outflow velocity.
The action is carried out due to both local and central neurohumoral factors as a result of receptor irritation. The result of the reflex response is the release into the blood of encephalins, endorphins, corticosteroids and other biologically active substances that activate metabolic processes and normalize homeostasis.
Pressotherapy is often used for diseases such as hypertension, heart defects, Raynaud's disease and syndrome, atherosclerosis, edema (of various genesis), lymphostasis, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, diabetes mellitus and limb antiopathy.
This procedure is contraindicated in malignant neoplasms, hemophilia, active pulmonary tuberculosis, pustular and fungal diseases, skin lesions and acute thrombosis.
