Mud Applications

The use of therapeutic mud in a sanatorium is an effective method of therapy. It is based on the application of therapeutic mud and its derivatives. The duration of the procedure is from 10 to 15 minutes. The thermal effect of mud promotes the formation of active biological substances that have analgesic effect and reduce inflammation. Contraindications

Like any other procedure, mud treatment in Essentuki has contraindications. These are inflammations, the presence of benign and malignant tumors, diseases of the blood and hematopoietic organs, as well as a tendency to bleeding.  It is not carried out for the following diseases::

• Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by mycobacteria, which mainly affects the lungs, but can also affect other organs. Symptoms include prolonged coughing, weakness, and weight loss.

• Stage II and III cardiovascular insufficiency are conditions in which the heart cannot pump blood efficiently. This leads to insufficient blood supply to organs and tissues. Symptoms include shortness of breath, swelling, and fatigue.

• Hypertension of the II and III stages is a disease characterized by a constant increase in blood pressure, which increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Symptoms may be subtle and include headaches and palpitations.

• Atherosclerosis is a chronic disease of the arteries in which cholesterol and other substances are deposited on the walls of blood vessels. This leads to their narrowing and an increased risk of thrombosis.

• Endocrine diseases are disorders of the endocrine system that affect hormone levels and metabolism. Examples include diabetes and hypothyroidism.

• Pathologies of the kidneys and urinary system — these diseases, including chronic renal failure and urinary tract infections, disrupt the normal function of removing toxins from the body.

• Acute cirrhosis of the liver is a progressive disease in which the liver tissue is replaced by connective tissue.

• Mental disorders are a wide range of diseases, such as depression and schizophrenia, characterized by disorders of the emotional state and thinking
