Эльбрус.jpg

ELBRUS IS THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN RUSSIA AND EUROPE

The legendary Elbrus is a mountain of volcanic origin, which has always surprised people with its mysterious beauty. This is one of the seven wonders and the highest point in Russia.
Elbrus belongs to the mountain system of the Caucasus. From the side, it resembles a two-humped camel, since it has two peaks.
Shahteral waters of Kislovodsk, Pyatigorsk, Essentuki, Zheleznovodsk are born in the depths of Elbrus.

Elbrus is one of the most popular ski resorts in Russia, where you can do sports such as snowboarding, skiing, mountaineering, or just have a good time enjoying the beautiful nature and clean mountain air.
Winter sports in the Elbrus region are practiced from November to May, there are year-round trails. 35 kilometers of ski trails are laid in the Elbrus region, 12 kilometers of cable cars are stretched.
Paragliding, rock climbing and ice climbing, mountain biking, heliski, trekking, kiteboarding are practiced in the Elbrus region.

On excursions around the Elbrus region, you can learn about the history of this place and get acquainted with many legends. The programs are diverse: from active travel by car to leisurely walks. Participants taste mineral water from the well and bathe in thermal springs. In addition, excursions along the Elbrus are a great way to get acquainted with the traditions of the local people, to see the atypical Elbrus with wild gorges and snow ridges.

Sights of the Elbrus region:

Cable car
The lifts are open all year round. This is the most convenient and fastest way to climb the mountain. From the cab of the funicular, and then from the observation decks, views of the surrounding mountains and valleys open. With transfers, the cable car lifts tourists from a height of 2300 to 3847 meters.

Museum at the Mir station
At an altitude of 3500 meters there is a small museum dedicated to the defense of the Caucasus in the Great Patriotic War. The museum stores soldiers' equipment, maps and photographs. Nearby there is a monument to the "Heroes of the defense of the Elbrus region".

Mount Cheget
A few kilometers from Elbrus is its not so famous neighbor. The lift takes tourists to a height of 3 kilometers, from where there are views of the surrounding mountains and fields of Cheget.

Narzanov Valley
There are 17 mineral springs gushing out of the ground here. The water and the land around are colored a rich orange color due to the high iron content.

Blue Lakes
The Lower Blue Lake, the Upper Blue Lakes, the Dry and Secret Lakes — each of them has its own characteristics. The lower one has a specific smell due to the content of hydrogen sulfide, the dry one dries out periodically and is filled again, the secret one is hidden by forest thickets, the upper one is swampy in places. All the lakes can be seen in one visit, four of them communicate with each other.

Terskol Gorge
From the Karachay-Balkar language, the name translates as "crooked gorge". The place is so named for the unusual shape of the relief. Powerful jets of the purest water flow down from the rocky mountains here. In summer, rhododendrons bloom near the waterfall.

Observatory on Terskol Peak
International Astronomical Observatory at an altitude of 3150 meters. It is forbidden to enter inside, you can look at the attraction from the southern shoulder of Elbrus.

Waterfall "Maiden braids"
The water flowing down from the mountains resembles flowing hair, which is why the place got its name.

The tract of Jila-Su
An area with many thermal springs and waterfalls.

Donguz Orun-Kel Lake
A beautiful lake, which is called tricolor because of the mineral-colored water. Combined with the snow-capped mountains, this creates an incredible landscape.

Now Mount Elbrus is a world–class resort. There are many tourist bases, hotels, cafes, restaurants, mountain shelters equipped directly on its slopes.
